On a daily basis we receive dozens of calls and messages. Some are spams, some are from family and friends and some are “wrong” numbers. But what if you find that the wrong number is the only right number for your life? This week’s blog is about how it doesn’t matter whether the number is wrong or not, only if you find that the person is absolutely right. Yeah, you got it right, we are talking about the second season of the mini web series “Wrong Number” which has been released on the YouTube platform by RVCJ Media.

This mini web series has a very simple plot and that’s the reason why audience could gel up so well with the series. Each cast has beautifully portrayed their characters and the dynamic acting skills of Ambrish Verma is something which has been appreciated by the most of the audience. The cast of the series is exceptionally amazing and includes Apoorva Arora as Khushi, Ambrish Verma as Karan, Badri Chavan as Shukla, Anjali Barot as Ruchi and Parikshit Joshi as Rajat. The series has attained a rating of 7.1 out of 10 from IMDb. It has received a great response from the audience as well.

The season 1 of the web series revolves around a confusion where Karan receives messages from Khushi on his new number. This number used to belong to Rajat, Khushi’s ex-boyfriend. Rajat broke all contacts with Khushi after a fight when school ended and never contacted her again. But Khushi kept on texting him and never gave up her efforts of contacting him. So, now when Karan is using that number, he started talking to her pretending to be Rajat.

In the second season, Karan realized his mistake and decided to apologize to Khushi. But Khushi’s best friend, Ruchi, is against Khushi meeting Karan as she is suspicious about Karan hurting Khushi again. Then when they met, they started gelling well together, Khushi started liking Karan. But then the twist comes up, Khushi got a call from Rajat. They decided to meet and Karan again pretending to be okay about the fact, still feels very low. But as it’s said, “a friend in need, is a friend in deed”, Ruchi, Shukla and Karan put all the efforts to let Khushi out from the illusion that Rajat is still genuine about her. Finally, Khushi got a reality check and agreed to the fact that, Rajat is indeed a “Wrong number”.

This amazing mini web series is a simple yet has a beautiful plot. It makes people realize the true meaning of friendship and love. So, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and watch the amazing series on YouTube.

Well, we know we are a bit late for this review, but amongst all the work, it did take me some time to complete watching this series.

The OTT platforms have been filled with lots and lots of content. It’s like a never-ending ocean of content. OTT being the new normal has hosted many movies as well as web series. Our most favorite web series are coming up with their upcoming seasons. While all of us have been waiting for the next seasons of Mirzapur, The Family Man, Lucifer, etc., there have been new releases for some old web series.

The one we are discussing today is Hostages. Hostages came up with its second season on 9th September 2020 on Hotstar. The Sudhir Mishra directed story is an adaptation of an Israeli TV series running by the same name. The cast of the series pretty much remained the same except for a few additions and subtractions. The star cast for teh second season of the series are Ronit Roy, Dalip Tahil, Aashi Gulati, Dino Moreo, Divya Dutta, Shbani Dandekar, and many more.

Season two started exactly at the same timeline where Season 1 of the series had ended. Season 1 of the Hostages series depicted the story of Dr. Mira Anand who was a top surgeon of a hospital where the CM, Mr. K.L Handa was to be operated. Everything was going fine, till Dr. Mira Anand and her family were held home captives by a group of four people. The leader of the group was Prithvi Singh, who had just retired from his SP post in the police department. Prithvi then has a conversation with Dr. Anand where he asks her to kill Handa during the operation. Shocked to hear that, Dr. Anand retrospect.

Now, why would an ex-police officer want to kill the CM? But the game being played was much much bigger than one could think. Handa’s security advisor too was involved with the gang and was the one giving Prithvi the orders. There was a lot of confusion created in the season and people loved the suspense.

Towards the end of the first season, we could see that Dr. Anand, with her wit, had managed to save Handa from getting killed. She also discovered the truth about Prithvi and his ailing wife. Prithvi’s wife, Saba was suffering from a disease where she needed a bone marrow transplant. This bone marrow could be donated by Handa, who accidentally happened to be her father as the man had once raped his mother.

As the season ends, we all think that it ended well, but knock-knock surprises come in an unexpected manner. The season 2 of the series started at the exact same point where the death of Handa was faked. Prithvi with his teammates took the body of Handa out from the hospital and shifted him with Saba for the transplant. Prithvi had planned to fly abroad with his family but, unfortunately, Subramaniam, Handa’s security advisor came to know about the double-crossing. He followed them and finally, all of them landed in a stranded house at a deserted place. There were gunshots that led to the involvement of the police. Throughout the season we could see all the people locked up in the house while being surrounded by police force. The police force considered them to be terrorists. The season passes in the quest of being able to escape from the house.

On the other side, we could be able to see a few reasons unfold on why people wanted to kill Handa. In this process, the name of a company General International comes up. This company had originally hired the people to kill Handa as he was a barrier to one of the business contracts. As a psycho from the company gets to know about the fake death of Handa, he threatens Prithvi to hand over Handa to him. Will Prithvi do so? Well, some answers are better to be found in the series.

What Do We Think About It?

Personally speaking, I did not find the second season as interesting as the first one. The series of events were confusing. There were links that one could not understand. The second season was stuffed with so many events and happening that there was no room for entertainment. We expected a lot form the season though. The acting of the characters was also a bit flat. The main pit hole for the entire web series was its story and planning of events.

It is definitely cannot be called a must-watch. The series is of an average quality and can be seen by people who desire to do so.

Some web series are such that they don’t remain only a candy to our eye, but they certainly become an emotion. Yeah, we are talking about the much-awaited season of one of the most amazingly made web series, Mirzapur 2. Mirzapur has already created such a hype, that people just can’t wait for its comeback with the next season. And now, when finally, the release date has been officially announced, then how can even we keep calm?

Mirzapur is a perfect blend of three different genres, Crime, Thriller and Action. Its first season was released on a digital platform, Amazon Prime on 16^th November 2018. The first season has a total of 9 episodes. It received a lot of positive response from the audience as well as from the critics. The series attained a rating of 8.5 on 10 from IMDb. The presence of the amazingly talented casts such as Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathy, Divyenndu and many more fabulous actors has successfully made this web series a masterpiece. Not to forget, the direction by Gurmmeet Singh has also been appreciated a lot.

The plot of season one was all about Akhandanand Tripathi played by Pankaj Tripathy, who made millions through manufacturing and exporting local and low-priced guns under the shell of running a carpet business. Following the footsteps of his father, became the mafia boss of Mirzapur and was known by the name of Kaleen Bhaiya. To continue his legacy, his son, Munna(Divyenndu), stops at nothing and could go to any extent to keep that power intact.

However, an insecure Munna doubts his father’s decision of including two youngsters, Guddu(Ali Faizal) and Bablu(Vikrant Massey) in the business. The progress of the duo ignited a feeling of revenge in the heart of Munna. In the finale scene of season one, it was shown that Munna destroyed the life of Guddu by killing his brother Bablu and his wife Sweety. Now, after this extremely twisted ending, the audience just can’t wait for the season 2. So, finally it has been officially announced that Mirzapur season 2 will premiere on the streaming platform on 23^rd October 2020.

Yeah, we too feel you guys! At least, we got to hear something good in this year, 2020. The teaser already explains itself that how big this season gonna be. In the teaser, Guddu can be seen explaining how world is divided into two categories of people- alive and dead. But he falls under the category of the injured. It shows the unrest and torment in the heart of Guddu to kill Munna and Kaleen Bhaiya. This season will hence follow how Guddu will strive to avenge the death of his loved ones. Thus, just like you all are waiting for this masterpiece to be released, so is us. And definitely, the josh is extremely high, sir!

As the previous day was dated the 5th of September and marked the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radakrishan, which is also celebrated as Teacher’s Day, we at SPINS thought why not do something different.

Teachers are the most important people in our life after our parents. They shape our minds, our character, our thoughts. While I strictly believe that everyone in our lives teach us something, and that even the minutest of beings are great teachers. But still there is a special place reserved for all our school and college teachers. So, celebrating the sense of teacher-hood, we present to you a list of 9 Bollywood movies that salute the spirit of our teachers. So, grab a comfortable place to sit and adjust to your screens properly, as this blog is going to be a long one.

1. Taare Zameen Par (2007)

Without a question, this film holds the first place. Close to all our hearts, this movie is the story of a young boy Ishaan, who is looked down upon by his schoolteachers and parents due to his poor academic performance. Soon he is sent to a boarding school, where Ishaan meets Ram, the teacher who changed his life. Ram is drawn towards Ishaan and discovers that the boy is suffering from Dyslexia. The story revolves around how Ram helped Ishaan overcome his disorder and be at par with all other students. Ram truly valued Ishaan’s talent and was the only one to understand and believe in him. Filled with inspiration and emotions, this movie is a must-watch and truly defines the extent to which a teacher can go to help their students.

• Hichki (2018)

The Rani Mukherjee starrer movie is also a perfect example of how dedicated a teacher can be for her students. Suffering from Tourette’s syndrome, Rani Mukherjee gets rejected at various interviews for the role of a teacher. But her passion for teaching never took a step down and she finally got selected for an elite school. Her hardships began when she is assigned to handle the most naughty and rebellious class of the school. How will Rani succeed in doing so? The answers to all the questions can be found in the movie. So, this Teacher’s Day make sure to watch this movie.

• Black (2005)

We all have heard the name of Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller. Anne Sullivan is known as one of the greatest teachers who sacrificed her own life to teacher blind student Helen. The perfect adaptation of this was the Bollywood movie, Black. The story of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan was depicted by the amazing acting skills of Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan. Inspired by a true story, Black however old will always be one of the best teacher-student movies.

• Iqbal (2005)

Iqbal is the story of an aspiring handicapped boy who dreams of securing a position in the Indian cricket team. Though his father is adamant about the idea, his mother and his resourceful sister do every bit to turn Iqbal’s dreams into reality. The movie is about Iqbal and his late found drunkard cricket coach. So, if you ask me about a movie that defines the passion of a student and a teacher, then Iqbal is definitely the answer.

• F.A.L.T.U (2011)

Though this movie failed to achieve much recognition, it surely did have some relevant content. F.A.L.T.U gave education a very different perspective. It showed the teacher in a very different way. The movie never emphasized on the fact that a teacher must be in school or college, it showed the world that we can learn on our own and from the minuscule of things. Education is not limited to just books, but it is about the practical world that you face.

• Paathshala (2010) & Chalk n Duster (2016)

The reason why we have clubbed both these films together is because of the similarity they have. Both the movies emphasize on the grave issue of using education as a profitable business. Both the stories revolve around the change in the management of school and privatization of public schools, the snatching of the right to free thoughts from teachers as well as the students. Both the movies show that the teachers come united to fight such oppression and how they succeed in doing so. Both movies are worth your time.

• Aarakshan (2011)

Again, a masterpiece on the privatization of education is Aarakshan. It gives us a different angle though. Partly a political drama, Aarakshan shows the true bond between a teacher and a student and how a true student always stands by his teacher. It shows the selflessness of a teacher. The cast is amazing, and many people have shown much love for this movie.

• Super 30 (2019)

Super 30 is again the real-life story of Anand Kumar. The movie is the journey of Anand Kumar from a student himself to becoming the teacher to many poor students. Known as the IIT Factory, his batch of Super 30 is a bunch of intelligent minds who never get a chance to rise-up. The role of Anand Kumar has been beautifully portrayed by Hrithik Roshan and the movie has received much love.

• 3 Idiots (2009)

While many of you would say that the movie is based on friendship, we beg to differ a bit. The movie undoubtedly depicts the tales of true friendship, but it also acknowledges us with the idea of education and learning. It shows that the complex of lessons in our books is actually the simplest of things in the outer world. It teaches us ‘Jugaad’, the much-needed virtue. So, on these parameters, we list 3 Idiots in the list of best Teacher oriented movies of Bollywood.

Hello Lucifans! We know that the season 4 of Lucifer has left all of us with plenty and plenty of unanswered questions. But, not to worry because our beloved Lucifer is back with a bang! Yeah, so finally the season 5 got released on the digital platform, Netflix on 21^st August 2020. And with its release, the audience are already going gaga about it.

As we have seen in the finale of season 4 that to save the world and to restrict the demons from coming back to the Earth, Lucifer has to leave the Earth and return back to Hell to take the charge. He confessed his feelings about Chloe to her and left her, in order to protect her as well as the world. And then we all went clueless and pondered over so many questions; will Lucifer return back to the Earth? Will Lucifer and Chloe ever get together? Finally, all of our questions have been answered with the release of season 5.

Season 5 introduces the twin brother of Lucifer, Michael, who decides to mess up the life of Lucifer on Earth. He wanted to mess it up all for Lucifer but eventually he too started liking Chloe, and wanted to be with her which will gradually feel like taking Lucifer’s life. This season is packed with a hell lot of surprises and definitely some spine-chilling cases. Definitely, we all must be thinking that whether Chloe will be able to recognize that Michael is not her Lucifer? What mess will Michael create to make Lucifer’s life a living hell on earth? Well, we at SPINS suggest you that finding the answers to these questions will definitely be amazingly awesome.

The series has already created such a hype among the audience that you too will feel like it’s definitely worth your time and interest. This season is a mix of some fresh faces and some known faces from the past seasons. The audience will be able to see Tricia Helfer again but, not as Charlotte Richard. And some fresh faces like the character playing the role of Pete, who is a daily reporter and eventually Ella let him get close to her. But lest did she know, what spine-chilling truth she is going to discover.

So, what are you all waiting for? Just go and start binging this amazing web series, Lucifer Season 5 and enjoy some thrilling western fantasies. The series which has everything- romance, hatred, jealousy, fantasy, fear and most importantly DESIRE. And Lucifer knows truly what we all desire, thus, this season is about all of our desires.

India celebrated its 74^th Independence Day yesterday. Our nation is known for its patriots and sacrifices. India has given the world some of the greatest talents. As we love setting an inspiration for the world, another such inspiration was set during the outbreak of the Kargil War.

Gunjan Saxena is a noted name in the Indian history. A truly empowered woman, who was the first female Indian Air Force pilot to have served during the Kargil War. Such names sometimes get covered under the sands of time. But, our very own Bollywood has never left any chance to acknowledge such warriors. In another attempt to do so, Sharan Sharma directed ‘Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl’ made its way to the digital platform. The movie was released worldwide on Netflix on 12^th August 2020. Acting in the movie are Janhvi Kapoor playing Gunjan Saxena, Pankaj Tripathi playing the role of Anup Saxena (Gunjan’s father), Angad Bedi as Anshuman Saxena (Gunjan’s brother), Manav Vij as Air Force Commando Gautam Sinha, Vineet Kumar Singh as Air Force Officer Dileep Singh, and many more.

The opening scene of the movie shows Gunjan as child sitting in an aircraft fighting with her brother over seeing the outer view from the window shield. As her brother refuses her to do so, she is accompanied by an air hostess to the cockpit of the plane. There she sees the clouds, the sky, and this is where her dream of becoming a pilot took birth. From that very day, Gunjan chased only one dream, and that was to become  a pilot. Throughout the movie we can see that Gunjan has a constant support from her father, whereas her mother and her brother were not so happy with her decisions.

Fighting all odds, completing her education and after receiving rejections, Gunjan finally gets admitted to the Indian Air Force where she has to face many difficulties. Entering a world which was, to everyone, not for the girls. Even with all the obstacles, difficulties and challenges put forth her, Gunjan manages to be one of the best pilots of the Uthampur division. A life changing moment for her happened when she is chosen to serve the country during the Kargil War, the only female Air Force pilot to do so. Even after constant doubt on her, Gunjan finally succeeds in proving her worth to the world. She executes over 40 rescue missions in the Kargil Valley.

The story of Gunjan Saxena is a real-life inspiring story. Janhvi Kappor has did complete justice to the role. Infact her transformation from Dhadak (her first movie) to Gunjan Saxena (her second Movie) is unbelievable. Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi and others have also stayed true to their character. It is one of the most inspiring biopics of the Bollywood. The film is rather simple and there is a proper flow in the story.

However, the film did not appeal much to the critics. The movie received a 5.3 rating on IMDb. The director also did a mistake in depicting the Air Force salute. The salute was done wrongly through the entire movie.  A little more carefulness in making such a movie would have been appreciated. A lot of controversy has been boiling around the movie. Just, three days since the release of the movie, allegations such as wrong portrayal of the IAF have been put on the movie. The film makers have been asked to take down the movie.

Whether or not the allegations are true, cannot really be determined by us. But, simply talking in terms of content, ‘Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl’ is a fair movie. It is a worth a watch. So, in the lockdown where we don’t really have much to do, do take time out to watch this piece of work. Though it might not surprise you very much, it will certainly entertain you, inspire you. The movie also depicts the norms beyond which every single girl needs to go. So, this movie is dedicated to India and it daughters.

The bond of friendship is the most beautiful one, right? But what happens when you start hiding stuffs from your best friend who is your dearest one since birth? And what happens when you fall in love with your best friend’s brother? And that too when you realize your feelings about him at a Kissing Booth? This week’s blog is about the Netflix Original Movie, The Kissing Booth 2.

Before going into that, let’s have a quick reminder about the first season. The movie has been directed by Vince Marcello. The Kissing Booth is a story about two best friends, Joey King as Elle Evans and Joel Courtney as Lee Flynn, who are best friends since birth. But the tables turn when Elle realizes her feelings for Lee’s brother Noah Flynn played by Jacob Elordi. This happens when Elle signs up to run a kissing booth at the spring carnival. Both of them decide to hide their relationship from Lee till Elle figured out a way to deal with Lee. Elle starts hiding stuffs from Lee and eventually a gap gets created between them. It is then, when Elle must choose any one between them, either Lee or Noah. She admires her friendship with Lee; thus, she choses friendship over love.

But true feelings cannot stay suppressed forever. As Elle decides to be vocal about her feelings, she chooses the day of her and Lee’s birthday that falls on the exact same date. Therefore, during their birthday, Elle decides to confess to Lee about her feelings for Noah, because Noah has to leave for Boston as he had got admission in the Harvard. Surprisingly, she confessed her feelings to Noah, who was disguised in the costume of Lee.

This leaves the audience with a hell lot of questions like is the relationship going to work? Will Elle and Noah be able to work it out? Will Elle make any move to study at Harvard? Well, the second season gives the answers to your questions. After spending a lovely and romantic summer together, Noah is off to Harvard and Elle heads back to High school for her senior year. The Kissing Booth 2 got released on 24^th July 2020 on the digital platform Netflix. The main twist comes with the entry of Taylor Zakhar Perez as Marco, who is considered as the hottest boy of the school at that time.

Now, I know most of you will be having a lot of questions but trust me, it is worth it to know all the answers. The movie has got a great response. It has attained a rating of 6/10 on IMDb. So, what are you waiting for? Just check out this amazing movie and trust me, it is worth it. And not to forget that the Kissing Booth 3 is going to be release in the year 2021.

All of us have a special attraction to mystery and suspense. These genres usually excite us a lot. And if the story revolves around the murder of a person then the eagerness to know doubles up. The movie we are reviewing today is the one which will keep you hooked to your seats till the end, and even after the end you would want the movie to last a little longer.

On the 31st of July, a Netflix Original film got released on the digital domain – Raat Akeli Hai. The movie is a crime thriller which unveils deeps dark secrets of a politically connected business family. 

The Story

Raat Akeli Hai holds an amazing star cast of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shweta Tiwari, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Aditya Srivastava just to name a few. The movie is centered around the murder of Vikram Singh, an influential businessman. He was murdered brutally on the day of his marriage with his young mistress. He was shot with his own rifle, stored in a cabinet, which was broken by the murderer. Strange is a fact that nobody could hear such a loud sound.

Inspector Jatil Yadav, played by Nawazuddin, is a dedicated and honest police officer who decides to get to the crux of the matter. In the course of his investigation, he comes across many untold truths, complicated relations, and the urge for money and power. Every time you think the mystery of the murder is solved, you will get a bang and return to where you started.

While the plot may sound very serious, but there still is room for some gigs. The aging inspector Jatil Yadav’s mother is engaged all this while to find a suitable bride for him. But all the girls reject him, as all they have to say is “Rang Thoda Saaf Nahi Hai”. It is fun to have these breaks to laugh in between the serious thriller scenes.

The story though a complex one is presented in the simplest way. There has been no over editing, or overacting. All the actors have stayed true to their characters. The movie by Honey Trehan is a complex thriller that will reveal to you some dirty truths hidden behind innocent faces. Everyone in the movie is a murder suspect.

Breathe-Into the Shadows is a second season of the web series Breathe. The Breathe series is a mix of crime, Drama and Thriller genres. The first episode of Season 1 was premiered on 26^th January 2018 starring R. Madhavan, Amit Sadh, Atharva Vishwakarma and a great lot of talented cast on. But the thrill is not yet over because the second season comes up with a completely new story with some spicy suspense. It was premiered on the digital platform Amazon Prime Video on 10^th July 2020. This time, the tagline builds up a thrilling atmosphere. Breathe: Into the shadows, is a thriller, drama and crime genre web series starring Abhishek Bachchan, Amit Sadh, Nithya Menen as leads along with other talented co-stars. The series portrays two men who are so much engaged in the cat-and-mouse game, just to save the person they love. It has received amazing response and ratings that will actually urge the people to give it a watch. It has attained a rating of 7.8 out of 10 from IMDb.

In fact, the audience are very content with the storyline, plot, acting and literally everything. The web series has successfully created the chaos among the audience. People are praising the amazing performance of the entire cast of the series, especially Abhishek Bachchan. So, what are you waiting for? Films hold a very special place in our hearts. And it becomes even more special if it belongs to an actor, who has touched all our hearts. It has been over a month since the sad and unfortunate demise of the multi-talented veteran actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The void he left behind in our hearts can never be fulfilled. But, as they say, people might leave, but their work stays forever. Sushant has given the Bollywood industry some of the most critically acclaimed movies. Yet another of his beautiful work is all set to be released on the digital screen very soon.

Dil Bechara is an adaptation of the famous novel ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ written by John Green. Sushant has made his last appearance for this movie along with the female lead Sanjana Sanghi. Directed by Mukesh Chhabra, the movie is set to be released on the Disney+Hotstar on the 24th of this month.

The movie depicts the story of a young teenage girl Kizie (played by Sanjana) who suffers from lung cancer. Coming through this trauma, Kizie has almost lost the hope of staying happy and living. She is even reluctant on joining a support group along with other cancer patients. But as she finally joins the group, she comes across another teenager named Manny (played by Sushant). Eventually, they both fall in love and share a romantic relationship. In the course of their closeness, Manny gives Kizie the hope and willingness to live her life happily. He teaches her to love and live in the moment.

However, every story does not have a happy ending. In the twist of events, many unexpected incidents take place which turn both Kizie and Manny’s lives into a roller coaster ride. For all the people, who would have read the novel or seen the 2014 English adaptation of the book, would be quite clearly knowing about the climax. But, we believe there might be some who have not watched either of them. So, we have decided to keep the climax as a suspense.

Dil Bechara has already taken the audience’s attention with an amazing collection of songs. With A.R. Rahman and Amitabh Bhattacharya doing the scores, it is obvious for the songs to be great. Till now we have turned to the tunes of the three songs from the movie – Dil Bechara Title Track, Taare Ginn Ginn, and Khulke Jeene Ka. All the songs fill you with positiveness and are surely gonna make you smile. This movie, being the last movie of Sushant, is much awaited by all his admirers and fans. Even I cannot just wait for the star delivering his last dialogues on the stage. Well, this might be the last movie we would have of him, but a performer like Sushant will always be remembered and honored on the stage. As the saying goes “All the world is a Stage”, and on this stage of life, Sushant’s footprints are irremovable. This blog is a small tribute to him.
